Evexeya Health Origin Story
The word Evexeya is derived from the Greek word ευεξία (ev̱exía) which means ‘wellness’. Evexeya Health began from a desire to return to practicing medicine in a purer form, caring for the person, not simply looking at the individual patient as a source of revenue for a hospital, sprawling health system, or insurance company. The practice of medicine has devolved over the past 50 years, with physicians forced to spend more time on the computer and less time spent interacting with patients. Clinic visits have been progressively shortened by administration, even double-booking two patients into the same time slot, forcing physician to see more patients in a day, making it more challenging for both the patient and physician. Evexeya Health strives to bring medicine back to the personalized interaction between the patient and physician with more than adequate time for the interaction.
The evolution of medicine has been substantially driven by the health insurance industry. Initially, health insurance was provided as a perk of employment when income salary caps were implemented after World War II, in part because of how income was taxed differently than health insurance benefits. Instead of being a catastrophic tool, much like home and auto insurance, people view their health insurance as a requirement of getting any healthcare, from the routine physical to bloodwork to medicines. Unfortunately, the costs of premiums, deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance are rising, making it increasingly challenging for people to pay for their health care. With up front pricing, there are no surprise bills, making budgeting more practical. By not engaging with any insurance, Evexeya Health is able to limit the cost of care so that you pay for your care much like you pay for other services.
One of the greatest values Evexeya Health will provide will be accessibility. Members can talk directly to their doctor and can message their doctor after hours. No longer will you have to go through two or three other people before you get the doctor’s input and you’ll be able to get your information directly from your doctor. With improved access, don’t worry about the forgotten question. If you have the “Oh, I forgot to ask…” moment down the road, just message your doctor and we will respond directly. You won’t have to make a new appointment. You may even be able to have a telemedicine appointment, depending on the issue being addressed. Evexeya Health will improve accessibility to your doctor with extended hours and alternative contact methods including email and direct messaging.
Evexeya Health will not accept insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid. Some visits may be paid individually, while other visits may be part of a membership. While Evexeya Health doctors will not bill any insurance, it will be important for all patients to have some form of catastrophic health insurance to cover the rare hospitalization or expensive procedures and medicines, much like you have home and auto insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances. Evexeya Health will improve the value of your health care dollar by providing outstanding quality and exceptional personalized care.
